Donations Accepted for Evansville Family Following House Fire
An Evansville business is accepting donations to help out a family of four after their house caught fire and was declared a total loss on Mother's Day.
The Kum & Go located at 3 Curtis Street will make sure that all money donated will go directly to the family, General Manager Brittany Pierce told K2 Radio News on Sunday.
One family dog died in the fire, according to Corey Ramsey, spokesman for the Evansville Fire Department. No one was injured, but the family of four was displaced and received assistance with lodging from the Red Cross of Wyoming.
"The Baker family is a respected and loved family in this community," Pierce said. Not only did the fire occur on Mother's Day, but Pierce added that Carl Baker had recently returned to work after battling cancer.
"We hope the community can pull together and help one of our own in this time of need," Pierce said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
