Wanted Cheyenne Transient Jailed After 100+ MPH Police Chase

A wanted Cheyenne transient is behind bars after reportedly leading police on a high-speed chase early Thursday morning.

According to a booking sheet, it all started around 3:37 a.m. when police tried to stop 58-year-old Scott Dearold Bressette in the area of North College Drive and East Pershing Boulevard for improper registration.

Bressette reportedly failed to pull over, accelerating north on North College Drive, and a chase ensued.

Police say during the chase, Bressette drove recklessly by exceeding the speed limit by up to 50 mph, running several red lights and stop signs, and driving southbound in the northbound lane of Interstate 25 at speeds topping 100 mph.

Bressette's tires were eventually spiked and he was taken into custody without further incident.

Bressette was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center on misdemeanor charges of fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, and expired or improper registration.

On Friday morning, he was served with a Laramie County District Court warrant for failure to appear for two sentencings and two probation revocations in four separate cases dating from 2020 to 2023.

He was also served with an Albany County District Court warrant for failure to appear for sentencing on an original charge of possession of a controlled substance.

Bressette is scheduled to make his initial court appearance on the misdemeanor charges this afternoon, Dec. 22, at 1:30 p.m.
