34-Year-Old Cheyenne Man Arrested For Promoting Prostitution

A 34-year-old Cheyenne man is facing charges of promoting prostitution after being arrested during a sex-trafficking investigation.

That's according to a post on the Cheyenne Police Department's Facebook page and a CPD news release.

Arrest Happened After Undercover Detectives Visited Prostitution Website

The post says that Michael Johnston was arrested after undercover detectives with the CPD Community Action Team visited a website known for solicitation and prostitution. The detectives allegedly exchanged messages with Johnston, who arranged for a sex act with a woman at a local hotel.

When Johnston and the woman arrived at the agreed-upon location, police were waiting for them and arrested both of them.

According to the post "Johnston was arrested for felony promotion of prostitution and booked into the Laramie County Jail. The woman was connected to the CPD’s Victims Assistance division for support services"

The post says such enforcement operations protect vulnerable victims and prevent other potential victims from being exploited.
