Most Wanted Colorado Sex Offender Arrested In Wyoming
The U.S. Marshals Service [USMS] for Wyoming has announced the arrest of one of Colorado's Most Wanted Sex Offenders in Wyoming.
That's according to a news release from the USMS.
According to the release, Timothy Dan Thurston was arrested in Baggs on October 7. Thurston was listed as number 21 on the Colorado Bureau of Investigation's Most Wanted Sex Offender List.
According to the release, "Thurston, previously convicted of sexual assault on a child, had been wanted by Colorado authorities since 2024. His criminal history includes drug offenses, sexual offenses involving children, probation violations, and sex offender registration violations.".
Earlier this month, the USMS District of Colorado Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force asked the Wyoming Fugitive Task Force to help find Thurston. Wyoming investigators then tracked him to the Baggs area in Carbon County.
Cheyenne Police, Laramie County Sheriff's Deputies Helped In Investigation
The Wyoming Task Force includes members of the Cheyenne Police Department, Laramie County Sheriff's Office, Wyoming Highway Patrol, and the Department of Homeland Security.
On October 7, WFTF investigators, with help from the Wyoming Highway Patrol and Carbon County Sheriff's Office, arrested Thurston without incident.
“Wyoming will not become a safe haven for fugitives seeking to escape accountability in other states,” said Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal Thomas of the District of Wyoming. “Whether in our largest communities or our most remote areas, the U.S. Marshals Service and our law enforcement partners remain committed to ensuring that those wanted for serious crimes are located and brought before the courts. This arrest sends a clear message: crossing state lines does not place anyone beyond the reach of justice.”
