Wyoming Federal Judge Sentences Three For Drugs, Firearms Crimes

U.S. District Court Judge Nancy Freudenthal recently sentenced two men and one woman for drugs, kidnapping and firearms crimes, according to the Wyoming U.S. Attorney's Office.

Ashley Marie Gonzales, 27, of Cheyenne was sentenced for seize, confine, kidnap, carry away, and hold as well as possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. Gonzales received 10 years of imprisonment, to be followed by five years of supervised release, and ordered to pay a $200 special assessment.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and make neighborhoods safer.

Dustin Ray Teeples, 43, of Orem, Utah, was sentenced for conspiracy to distribute heroin. Teeples was arrested in Washakie County. He received three years four months of imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay a $900 in community restitution and a $100 special assessment.

The Washakie County Sheriff’s Office investigated this case.

Caleb Allen Root, 38, with no known permanent address, was sentenced for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and felon in possession of firearms and ammunition. Root was arrested in Sheridan. He received four years six months of imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay a $200 special assessment.

The Sheridan Police Department, Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives investigated this case.
