F.E. Warren Air Force Base Officials and the Laramie County Sheriff's Office are seeking information on a stray bullet that hit a five-year-old girl who was watching the July 4 fireworks display in the Trails End Parking Lot on the base.

According to information presented at a Tuesday morning news conference, the girl is the daughter of an airman stationed at the base. The incident happened around 10 p.m. on July 4.

The girl suffered a head injury and was taken to CRMC. What turned out to be a bullet was found in a sinus cavity. She was lifeflighted to Children's Hospital in Aurora, Colorado, where doctors confirmed the object was indeed a bullet.

The bullet was removed, and the little girl was discharged and is recovering with her family. But now investigators are trying to find out who fired the shot.

90th Missile Wing Commander Col. Terry Holmes says, "We are turning to the Cheyenne Community for help in gathering more information on how this incident occurred."
