
Laramie County Sheriff’s Office Releases More Details On Juvenile Shooting
The Laramie County Sheriff's Office says an early morning incident that claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy on July 11 was not accidental and happened outside on the grounds of an elementary school.
Shooting Happened On Grounds Of Elementary School
Sheriff's Office spokesman Brandon Warner says the shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. July 11 at Afflerbach Elementary School near the 400 block of West Wallick. When deputies arrived on the scene, they found a 15-year-old boy who was dead from an apparent gunshot wound. A 13-year-old juvenile was taken into custody.
Warner says investigators have recovered the gun that is believed to have been used in the shooting. The weapon was reported as stolen in Laramie County.
The suspected shooter and the victim were not related, and Warner says there is no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved.
Warner says the incident is still being actively investigated and has been referred to the Laramie County District Attorney's Office.
