The Laramie County Sheriff's Office is investigating a single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of an 18-year-old Cheyenne resident over the weekend.

According to a post on the sheriff's office Facebook page, deputies were called out at 10:57 p.m. on Saturday on a report of a single-vehicle crash with injuries in the 9500 block of Powderhouse Road. In addition to the sheriff's office, the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Laramie County Fire Authority, and American Medical Response were called out.

Investigators Think Speed May Have Been A Factor

The driver of the vehicle, 18-year-old Zavier James of Cheyenne, was pronounced dead at the scene. The sheriff's office is investigating the crash, but the early indications are that excessive speed may have been a factor in the crash.

The post goes on to say "We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends, and all those affected by this tragic loss.

We would like to take a moment and encourage everyone to make safe driving decisions and remain mindful of the risks associated with excessive speed."
