A Cheyenne man who was exposed on YouTube after soliciting sex from a vigilante group posing as an 11-year-old girl will serve eight years in federal prison after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography.

Chief U.S. District Court Judge Scott W. Skavdahl handed down the sentence to 20-year-old Clayton Tanner last Thursday, March 14.

The federal sentence will be served concurrent to a prior state sentence imposed on Tanner for similar crimes.

Cheyenne Sex Offender Had Numerous Images of Child Porn on His Phone

According to court documents, Cybertips and a Cheyenne police investigation led officers to Tanner, who is a registered sex offender.

Investigators found numerous images of child sexual abuse material on Tanner’s phone.

He was subsequently indicted and pled guilty to the sole count of the indictment on Oct. 16, 2023.
