Alleged Cheyenne Child Predator Arrested on Warrant

A 19-year-old Cheyenne man who was arrested on suspicion of possession of child pornography and soliciting to engage in illicit sexual relations and then released from jail is back behind bars.

According to Cheyenne Police Department Lt. Dan Long, the case arose on the Fourth of July after the “Predator Poachers” set up a meeting with Clayton Spencer Tanner and contacted the police, something the group recorded and later released on YouTube.

Long says officers found that the group had been posing online as an 11-year-old girl and communicating with Tanner.

"During the communication, (Tanner) solicited sex from the group, which he believed to be an 11-year-old girl," said Long. "During the investigation, police discovered (Tanner) was in possession of child pornography."

Tanner was subsequently arrested but, because the Laramie County District Attorney's Office didn't file charges, he was released from jail.

Tanner was arrested again on Monday, July 11, on a misdemeanor warrant for probation violation.

Police spokeswoman Alex Farkas couldn't speak to whether the warrant had anything to do with Tanner's July 4th arrest, but according to the YouTube video, Tanner was on probation for child porn.

When asked about the case Wednesday, District Attorney Leigh Anne Grant Manlove declined to comment.
