The Cheyenne Police Department wrote 91 tickets for speeding in school zones in October, according to spokesman Officer Dan Long.

The tickets were written as part of a special enforcement effort targeting traffic violations in school zones, and were the single largest category of traffic tickets written during the month. Long says the special enforcement  was undertaken in response to two  children being struck by cars in school zones, as well as widespread complaints from parents and the general public about traffic violations in those areas

. Long says the special enforcement effort is continuing through November, to be followed by a review of the situation to see if it should be extended.
