Overall Crime, Underage Drinking Up at Cheyenne Frontier Days
The 122nd Daddy of 'em All was a busy one for Cheyenne police.
Officer Kevin Malatesta says the department responded to 2,990 calls for service during the 10-day event, an 11.5 percent increase over last year.
"Fortunately, while there was an additional load on the police department, we didn't see a big increase in felony cases," said Malatesta.
Police did, however, see a significant increase in underage alcohol-related offenses, issuing a total of 139 tickets at Frontier Park.
"Laramie, UW and Douglas all came over and assisted in those operations, so that may have allowed us to catch a few more people," said Malatesta. "It's something we really go after and target."
Despite the increase in calls, Malatesta says this year's CFD crowd was pretty well-behaved overall.
