No License Plate Light Leads to Drug Charges for Cheyenne Woman
A Cheyenne woman is facing drug charges following a traffic stop.
According to a booking sheet, 51-year-old Lisa Rae Bevel was arrested shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, after a Laramie County Sheriff's deputy pulled her over near the intersection of South Greeley Highway and East College Drive for not having a license plate light.
Upon contacting Bevel, the deputy smelled a strong odor of what he believed to be marijuana.
The deputy conducted a probable cause search of Bevel's car and found multiple pipes with residue, suspected marijuana, and a baggie containing a white powdery substance.
Bevel was handcuffed and taken to the Laramie County Detention Center for booking, where another deputy reportedly found two baggies containing white powdery substances, multiple paraphernalia, and a container with suspected marijuana inside of it.
Bevel was subsequently charged with felony possession of a controlled substance in powder or crystalline form and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance in plant form.
She made her initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court Wednesday morning, during which her bond was set at $5,000 cash and her preliminary hearing was scheduled for Aug. 16 at 3:30 p.m.
