A wanted Cheyenne man is behind bars after leading Albany County Sheriff's deputies on a chase that ended on a dirt road on June 10.

That's according to a Facebook post by the Albany County Sheriff's office.

According to the post, the chase started when deputies tried to stop a wanted man reported to be near Albany. The driver took off in what was thought to be a stolen vehicle, leading deputies on a chase along State Highway 11 toward Highway 130 and onto county roads near Fox Creek.

With help from the Wyoming Highway Patrol, deputies were able to implement stop sticks. That disabled the vehicle and brought the chase to a safe ending.

According to the post "Michael Welty, of Cheyenne, was arrested on local charges to include eluding, interference, and a felony warrant for parole violation with nationwide extradition -further local charges are pending. Mr. Welty’s initial appearance in the Albany County Circuit Court is scheduled for June 12th."

Sheriff's Office Thanks Wyoming Highway Patrol, Road And Bridge Crews

The post also thanked the Wyoming Highway Patrol For Their Help:

We’re grateful this ended safely and appreciate the Wyoming Highway Patrol assistance in bringing this pursuit to an end. Incidents involving pursuits, at slow or excessive speeds, place the public, first responders, and the suspects themselves at serious risk. We are thankful no motorists or responding personnel were injured during this incident. Also, a huge shoutout to our Road and Bridge colleagues for recently grading Fox Creek Road!

Local Pilots Give Wyoming Kids A Free Flight

Does your kid want to be a pilot?

There is no way of knowing unless they get a chance to get in an airplane and get up there.

Thanks to a Wyoming chapter of EAA, (Experimental Aircraft Association), kids in Wheatland Wyoming got that chance this past weekend.

Local pilots offered free rides to all kids, breakfast included.

The hope is that maybe some of these kids will get that urge to want to fly and pursue a career as a pilot.

America needs more pilots.
