Albany County Sheriff: Fish Creek Fire 50 Percent Contained
The Albany County Sheriff's Office on Thursday said the Fish Creek Fire at 50 percent containment.
That's according to a post on the agency's Facebook page.
While that does represent progress in fighting the fire, some evacuation orders remain in effect, according to the post:
'Batel Ranch remains under a GO (Evacuate Now) order. All other previously evacuated areas remain in SET (pre-evacuation) status. Please stay prepared and continue to monitor for updates.
We ask everyone to continue avoiding the area so firefighters and emergency personnel can safely carry out their work.
To every firefighter, deputy, dispatcher, EMS provider, volunteer, and partner agency working tirelessly on this incident, thank you. Your dedication, long hours, and commitment to protecting our community do not go unnoticed, and we are incredibly grateful for everything you continue to do'
The fire prompted an evacuation of a two-mile radius around Fish Creek Ranch and the Cherokee Park area. That evacuation was ordered around 9 p.m. Tuesday

Old Cheyenne Buildings, New Purpose
Wyoming owner of TJoe's Restaurant and all-around entrepreneur Sherrie Lyle purchased some old buildings on the west side of downtown Cheyenne, Wyoming.
There is an opportunity to transform these once grand and now forgotten structures into a new business area.
Many new businesses are looking at this old side of Cheenne. Restaurants and stores are looking at the old structures and imagining what new things they can do with them.
