Scammers are at it again and this time the target is our college students. In this day of technology, it is high time to be vigilant against those who wish to steal from us.

In a report put out by USAToday, the most recent victim of the IRS scammers is Maggie Passino, a 20-year old college student.

She reported on the first day of college, she received many phone calls pretending to be from the IRS, and demanding she pay them back taxes of else!

As many have, Maggie fell into the trap by buying 3 $500 iTunes gift cards and another for $262. Unfortunately, this was her whole savings amount.

According to the IRS, they will never call and demand immediate payment over the phone, nor do they dictate on how you need to pay them.

Should you get a call like this, don't give out your information and hang up immediately. You should also report the incident to TIGTA (Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration) at 800-366-4484 on their "IRS Impersonation Scam Reporting" line.

It would help to contact local law enforcement as well. Be careful and be vigilant.
