Cheyenne Men Get 35-40 Years, 8-12 Years for Separate Sex Crimes
Cheyenne Police in a Facebook post late Tuesday morning announced the outcomes of two separate sex crime cases investigated by the department in which the defendants, both from Cheyenne, were sentenced in Laramie County District Court to 35 to 40 years and 8 to 12 years in prison, respectively.
Ernest Beverly - Sexual Abuse of a Minor
According to the post, the first case began on Oct. 26, 2023, after a school resource officer was informed that a child had been sexually abused at an address in Cheyenne.
"Investigators were able to determine that Ernest Beverly had abused the minor over the course of several years," the post reads.
Beverly was arrested on Oct. 30, 2023, and charged with 10 counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor.
He pleaded guilty to three counts as part of a plea agreement, and on June 27, 2024, the 39-year-old was sentenced to 35 to 40 years in prison.
Quinterrous Moore - Sexual Assault
The second case reportedly began on Nov. 12, 2023, after police responded to a report that a 25-year-old woman had been sexually assaulted at a residence in Cheyenne.
"Officers learned that the sexual assault had been recorded on an outdoor security camera," the post reads. "The suspect also left a wallet containing his ID at the scene and was later identified as Quinterrous Moore."
Police say they contacted Moore after he reported being robbed earlier that morning, but determined the robbery didn't occur.
Moore was later arrested and charged with aggravated assault and attempted first-degree sexual assault.
On Aug. 12, 2024, as a result of a plea agreement, the 26-year-old was sentenced to 8 to 12 years in prison for attempted first-degree sexual assault.
