A 30-year-old Cheyenne man is facing a felony charge after allegedly strangling his wife to the point of unconsciousness.

According to a booking sheet, a corporal with the Laramie County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the 600 block of Apricot Street at about 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 11, 2024, for a prior domestic.

The corporal says he met the victim at Cheyenne Hills Church per her request.

The victim reportedly told the corporal that her husband, Joseph Benjamin Lunt, picked her up by the throat and slammed her to the ground, causing her to lose her breath and consciousness.

The corporal says he met Lunt at the sheriff's office and advised him of his rights, but Lunt refused to talk.

Lunt Charged With Strangulation, Domestic Battery

Lunt was handcuffed and taken to the Laramie County Detention Center without issue, and subsequently charged with strangulation of a household member - applying pressure on the throat or neck, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Lunt was also charged with misdemeanor domestic battery.

Bond Set at $3K Cash

Lunt made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Aug. 13, 2024, during which his bond was set at $3,000 cash and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for Aug. 23, 2024, at 9:45 a.m.

Please remember that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
