Traffic Stops by Cheyenne Police Up 20.6%
The Cheyenne Police Department in a Facebook post Tuesday said it has made 9,653 traffic stops so far this year, a 20.6% increase compared to this time last year.
Police say 1,119 of those traffic stops, or 11.6%, were for speeding.
'There Is Never a Good Excuse for Speeding'
"When you look at the consequences of speeding – severe injuries, crashed vehicles, and even lost lives – it becomes clear: no matter where you're going, who you're trying to see, or how good the song is on the radio, there is never a good excuse for speeding," the post reads.
Police say the city has made traffic safety a top priority, not just through enforcement, but by focusing on education and long-term infrastructure improvements.
"Help us keep our roads safe for everyone – slow down and drive smart," the post reads.

According to fatal crash statistics from the Wyoming Highway Patrol, speed has been a contributing factor in at least two of this year's seven fatal crashes in Laramie County.
