Cheyenne Woman Pleads Guilty in Fatal Stabbing
A 47-year-old Cheyenne woman has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the stabbing death of her boyfriend's wife.
Tanya Pearson will likely be sentenced to prison after accepting a plea agreement in her case.
Pearson was charged with involuntary manslaughter and aggravated assault last April after police say she got into an argument with 45-year-old Jennifer Pratt and fatally stabbed her in the armpit.
Had she been convicted on both counts, Pearson would have faced up to 30 years in prison.
In return for Pearson's guilty plea, the state has agreed to cap it's argument for prison at 10 to 12 years. The defense may argue for no less than five years imposed.
Pearson remains free on bond. Her sentencing date will be set as soon as a presentence investigation is complete.
