Cheyenne Weather Service: Storm Is ‘Potentially Crippling’
The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service says an approaching winter storm could feature 60 mph winds and dump up to 16 inches of snow in some areas.
The service, In a statement Monday evening, referred to the storm as "potentially crippling":
''A major, potentially crippling winter storm is expected to impact all of southeast Wyoming and the western Nebraska Panhandle from late Tuesday night through Thursday. Blizzard & Winter Storm Warnings are already in effect. This is a very serious situation! PREPARE NOW!"
The service also released this statement:
- Blizzard Warnings and Winter Storm warning have now been issued for portions of Southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle.
- When: Starting 12am Wednesday Morning - 6pm Thursday Afternoon.
- Main Impact Timing Window: 6am Wednesday Morning - 12pm Thursday.
- Most significant impacts will occur across far southeast Wyoming and the entire Nebraska Panhandle where the Blizzard Warnings are currently in effect.
- High transportation impacts expected across the entire region with moderate to high Confidence.
- Sustained north winds of 35 to 45 mph with gusts 55 - 60 mph expected. This may result in considerable blowing and drifting snow with very low visibility.
- All travel across all of southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle should be avoided during this time.
