Cheyenne Men Arrested In Sex-Trafficking Reverse Sting Operation
A pair of Cheyenne men have been arrested for trying to purchase sexual services in a reverse sting operation conducted by the Laramie County Sheriff's Office over the weekend.
According to a sheriff's office news release, the operation focused on identifying people trying to purchase sexual services from vulnerable women from law enforcement officers posing as sex traffickers.
Operation Leads To Arrests Of Two Cheyenne Men
As a result of the operation, David Drehobl and Christopher Miller of Cheyenne were both charged with soliciting an act of prostitution. The release says Drehobl is a registered sex offender who was convicted in 2007 in of unlawful sexual contact under Colorado Revised Statute 18-3-404.
Drehobl has also been charged with possession of marijuana in the Laramie County case.
The release quotes Laramie County Sheriff Brian Kozak as saying “Human trafficking is not a victimless crime. The demand for commercial sex creates opportunities for traffickers to exploit vulnerable individuals, including those struggling with addiction, homelessness, financial hardship, and abuse. By targeting those who create that demand, we are working to protect potential victims, disrupt trafficking networks, and make Laramie County a safer place for everyone.” Sheriff Kozak added, “Laramie County has become a safe haven for human sex trafficking, and these operations will send a clear message that human trafficking will not be tolerated here."
The release says the sheriff's office will be conducting similar operations in the future.
