UPDATE: Cheyenne Police Identify Fatal Crash Victim
2:34 P.M. UPDATE: Cheyenne police say the victim's full name was Maria Aguilar-Lopez.
Update:11:10 a.m. Cheyenne Police have identified the victim of a fatal crash on Thursday morning in the 9th street area as 49-year-old Maria Aguilar of Cheyenne.
Police spokesman Officer Kevin Malatesta said the crash occurred when Aguilar's Dodge Durango was southbound on the Central Avenue Viaduct around 7:30 a.m. Thursday when it crossed a median into the northbound lane of I-180 and hit a tree on the east side of the road.
Aguilar was the only person in the Durango and no other vehicles were involved in the crash. Police are continuing to investigate the crash and anyone who may have seen it is being asked to call Officer Ehlman at 307-633-6636
Original Post: Cheyenne Police are investigating a fatal single-car accident which was reported around 7:30 a.m. Thursday.
According to a post on the CPD Facebook page, the crash happened when a vehicle careened out of control in the area of 9th St. and I-180, crashing into a tree in the area.
The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation, and police are not yet releasing the name of the person who died.
