The state has dismissed a burglary and misdemeanor theft charge against Jayden Loveland, 19, of Cheyenne, due to it not being able to meet its burden of proof.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A 19-year-old from Cheyenne is in hot water after allegedly stealing items from a vehicle.

According to a booking sheet, police arrested Jayden James Loveland at the Cheyenne Public Safety Center at 415 W. 18th St. at 7:16 p.m. on New Year's Eve for burglary and misdemeanor credit card fraud.

Loveland was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center and subsequently charged with burglary, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison, up to a $10,000 fine, or both; and misdemeanor theft, a crime punishable by up to six months in jail, up to a $750 fine, or both.

The crimes are alleged to have occurred on or about Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025.

Initial Court Appearance

On Tuesday, Jan. 6, Loveland was seen in Laramie County Circuit Court in front of Judge Antoinette Williams on the charges.

"You do not qualify for a public defender, so you're going to have to hire your own attorney," Williams told Loveland.

Williams set Loveland's preliminary hearing for Friday, Jan. 16, at 9:45 a.m., then asked for the state's position regarding bond.

"There's not a substantial history listed in the NCIC for the defendant, however, in light of the nature of the allegations at hand, the state would recommend a $3,000 cash bond," the state said.

Out on Bond

Williams set Loveland's bond at $3,000 cash or surety, meaning he could go through a bondsman, and it was later posted.

Please remember that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
