911 Hang-Up Leads to Cheyenne Man's Arrest

A 33-year-old Cheyenne man is behind bars after allegedly swinging knives at his girlfriend, strangling her, hitting her in the face, and confining her in a bedroom.

Police say it all started around 1:30 yesterday morning, Oct. 18, when they were called to a home for a 911 hang-up.

Police contacted Matthew Kristopher Carabajal-Jacoby inside the home, who stated that he and his girlfriend had gotten into a verbal argument.

Police then left the home and spoke to Carabajal-Jacoby's girlfriend, who was sitting inside her vehicle.

The woman reportedly told police that Carabajal-Jacoby came into the bedroom yelling at her and that he had two chef's knives in both of his hands and was swinging them at her.

When she called 911, Carabajal-Jacoby reportedly trapped her in a corner with his forearm against her neck, causing her to lose her breath.

Police say the woman told them that she heard officers at the door, but Carabajal-Jacoby struck her approximately three to four times in the face and would not let her leave the bedroom.

Police say she had a visible mark under her right eye and redness around her neck and jaw area.

Carabajal-Jacoby was subsequently arrested and booked into the Laramie County Detention Center for domestic battery, kidnapping, interference with an emergency call, aggravated assault, and strangulation.

As of 2 p.m. Thursday, he had yet to be formally charged.

This is not Carabajal-Jacoby's first brush with the law.
