Two men are behind bars in connection with an attempted stabbing that occurred in Cheyenne Tuesday night.

"Around 8:00 p.m. officers were dispatched to Dell Range Boulevard and Hilltop Avenue after receiving a report of a disturbance that was involving two vehicles and multiple people," said Cheyenne Police Officer Dan Long.

Long says officers ended up arresting 25-year-old Matthew Carabajal-Jacoby of Cheyenne and 30-year-old Kevin Cardoza of Commerce City, Colorado.

"Allegedly during the altercation Carabajal-Jacoby got out of his vehicle, displayed a knife and attempted to stab a 27-year-old man from Cheyenne," said Long. "Cardoza allegedly slashed the tires of that man's car during the altercation."

Long couldn't say what prompted the altercation, but says Carabajal-Jacoby knew the victim, Abel Martinez.

Carabajal-Jacoby has been charged with aggravated assault and interference with a peace officer. Cardoza has been charged with destruction of property, no drivers license and a warrant out of Colorado.

The case remains under investigation by the Cheyenne Police Department.
