Some sort of abuse happens every day in America and many abuses take different forms. One of our country's most vulnerable are elderly and disabled people.

Recently, our friends at WalletHub.com analyzed states based on key components ranging from exploitation complaints to financial elder abuse laws and gross neglect, just to name a few.

50 states were compared and analyzed to include Washington D.C. Wyoming came in 50th, just ahead of South Carolina.

With an aging population in Wyoming, the problem may continue to get worse. However, states do acknowledge that elder abuse is a growing problem and are working to try and fix the problem.

The top 5 states that have the best elder-abuse protections were: Washington D.C., Nevada, Massachusetts, Wisconsin and Missouri, which came in 5th.
