The Laramie County Sheriff's Office is warning motorists that they and other law enforcement agencies are going all-out to catch drunk drivers this holiday season.

That's according to a post on the agency's Facebook page.

Drunk Driving Has Consequences

According to the post, here are some of the consequences of drunk driving in Wyoming:

Jail Time: Even a first-time conviction can lead to up to six months in jail.
• Fines & Fees: You may face fines up to $750 for a first offense, not including court costs or alcohol assessment fees.
• License Suspension: A first offense typically results in a 90-day driver's license suspension.
• Ignition Interlock: As of 2025, a first offense with a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of 0.15% or higher requires a mandatory 6-month ignition interlock device.
The post encourages people to use ride-share services like Uber or Lyft to get a ride home. People can also get someone to serve as a designated driver, someone who can legally drive and who does not drink that evening. As the post notes, the designated driver should be chosen ahead of time to be sure they stay sober.
The post also encourages people to report drunk drivers:
"Report Impaired Drivers: If you see someone driving dangerously, you can call 911 or use the REDDI (Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately) program by calling 307-637-6525."
