The Cheyenne office of the National Weather Service says winter weather advisories remain in effect for parts of eastern Wyoming and western Nebraska until 5 p.m. today.

\The weather service posted the following statement on its website early Friday:

''Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect for northern Carbon, Converse, and Niobrara Counties in Wyoming, and Dawes, Box Butte, and Sioux Counties in Nebraska, until 5 PM MST Today. For the southern Neb. Panhandle it is in effect until 5 PM MST Saturday. Periods of mainly light snow will continue today over much of the area then mainly over the southern Panhandle tonight into Saturday. An additional 1 to 2 inches of snow is possible. Additionally, some freezing drizzle is possible mainly this morning for the southern Nebraska Panhandle. Slippery road conditions can be expected along with reduced visibility. Use caution if driving."
