According to Public Information Officer Alex Farkas, officers were called to the scene in the 600 block of Ridgeland Street around 8 p.m. and arrived to find an 18-year-old Cheyenne man had been shot to death.

Gun Sale Turns Deadly
"According to statements, the man and two friends arrived at a residence on Ridgeland Street to purchase a firearm from a 16-year-old male," Farkas said in a news release published on the department's Facebook page late Thursday morning.
"During the encounter, a physical altercation occurred between the man and the 16-year-old that escalated into gunfire," she added.
Potential Charges
Farkas says detectives have interviewed multiple individuals connected to the incident and are working closely with the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office for case review and potential charges.
She says the Laramie County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the decedent at a later time.
Third Fatal Shooting This Year
According to Farkas, this is the third fatal shooting in Cheyenne this year. The first occurred at Sundance Apartments on Aug. 16 and the second occurred in the King Soopers parking lot on Sept. 20.
