Online Poll: Should Statewide Elected Officials Get A Raise?
The Wyoming Legislature's Joint Appropriations Committee has been looking at legislation that would increase the salaries of Wyoming's five statewide elected officials.
While the numbers in the proposal could change, the initial proposal would increase the governor's salary by about two thirds and the salaries for the Treasurer, Auditor, State Superintendent and Secretary of State by a little over 60 percent.
Supporters of a pay increase note the five statewide officials have not had a pay increase in almost 20 years. The pay raise would not take effect until after the 2022 election. Governor Mark Gordon on Tuesday said he opposes raising the pay of the five statewide officials.
So what do you think? Do you support a 60 percent increase in pay for Wyoming's statewide elected officials? Or do you think a smaller raise is in order, or no raise at all?
