A 43-year-old California man could face up to 27 years in prison after a Wyoming trooper found roughly $4,500 worth of meth on him.

According to an affidavit, 27-year-old Johnny Truong was pulled over for driving with expired tags on Interstate 80 east of Cheyenne on March 19.

The trooper smelled marijuana and asked Truong to exit the car. When asked about the marijuana, Truong said he had about an ounce in the car. He also stated that he had a marijuana card, but had lost his wallet.

The trooper then asked Truong's passenger, Marvin Gonzales, how much marijuana was in the car. Gonzales said there were a couple of ounces and that it belonged to him.

When the trooper searched Gonzales, he found a bag of meth in his pants pocket. Gonzales said it was approximately two ounces worth and that he was taking it to Omaha, Nebraska to sell.

Truong was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana. He pleaded guilty to the charge this (Wednesday) morning in Laramie County Circuit Court and was sentenced to one year of probation.

Gonzales was charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine and felony possession of methamphetamine. His bond was set at $5,000 cash and his preliminary hearing set for March 29.
