A 45-year-old Cheyenne transient is facing a felony charge after reportedly breaking into and burglarizing two small vacant homes on The Old Cheyenne Elevator property.

Police say they were called to a reported trespassing at the property located at 802 W. 21st St. around 2:30 p.m. yesterday, Aug. 17, and arrived to find Daniel Rae Green inside the property.

When police ran Green's name, they discovered he had a Laramie County warrant for failure to pay on an original charge of first-offense compulsory auto insurance signed by Circuit Court Judge Sean Chambers on June 8, 2023.

Police say Green admitted to entering the property approximately three days prior, stripping the wires out of the walls, and taking the copper to Wyoming Salvage Company for approximately $40.

Property co-owner Jen Seitz says Green did plenty of damage, but fortunately, the grain elevator itself was not broken into.

Green was arrested and booked into the Laramie County Detention Center on the warrant as well as a single count of burglary.

Green made his initial appearance in Circuit Court Friday afternoon.

His bond was set at $5,000 cash and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for next Friday, Aug. 25 at 9 a.m.
