A 41-year-old Cheyenne woman is facing a felony charge after a booking deputy reportedly found methamphetamine in her bra.

Active Trespass Warning

According to a booking sheet, the Cheyenne Police Department's Crime Prevention Team was engaged in targeted shoplifting enforcement at the Walmart at 2032 Dell Range Blvd. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, when a loss prevention employee informed them that Nicole Krystal Buchanan was inside the store with an active trespass warning.

Police say the trespass warning was dated June 3, 2023, had no expiration date listed, and was signed by Buchanan stating she understood.

Police say when they contacted Buchanan, she told them she was aware of the trespass warning, however, she thought it had expired.

Buchanan was arrested for criminal trespass and taken to the Laramie County Detention Center for booking.

Police say during the booking process, the booking deputy found 6.31 grams of suspected methamphetamine hidden in Buchanan's bra.

Buchanan Hit With Felony Charge

Buchanan was subsequently charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass and felony possession of methamphetamine, a crime punishable by up to seven years in prison, up to a $15,000 fine, or both.

On Thursday, Jan. 23, Buchanan was seen in Laramie County Circuit Court on the charges as well as a separate misdemeanor charge of possession of a fraudulent insurance card.

Bond Set at $3K Cash or Surety

Bond was set at $3,000 cash or surety and Buchanan's preliminary hearing and arraignment were scheduled for Friday, Jan. 31 at 9:45 a.m.
