A 20-year-old Cheyenne man is facing a felony charge after allegedly strangling his girlfriend.

According to a booking sheet, Antonio J. Galvan Wake was arrested at 10:02 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, after police were called to his and his girlfriend's home for a domestic violence incident where Wake was reportedly strangling her.

Video Call Captures Alleged Strangulation

Police say the 911 caller said she was the victim's sister and they were on a Facebook video call when the alleged incident occurred.

The caller told them that Wake came home screaming at her sister and acting drunk, grabbed her sister's purse to keep her from leaving, and broke the strap.

The caller then reportedly heard Wake hit her sister and heard her sister saying to stop.

The caller said Wake took the phone and turned off the camera, but he didn't end the call, and she could hear him fighting with her sister and her sister gasping for air and then yelling at the phone for her mom to come get her and that she needed her.

The caller also told police that she heard her sister say I'm leaving because you hit and strangled me.

Red Marks on Her Neck

Police say Wake's girlfriend told them that Wake strangled her on the bed, but she was unsure for how long and that she felt scared and was in a haze as he strangled her.

Police say she had a fresh-looking bruise on the left side of her face and red marks on both sides of her neck.

Self-Defense Claim

Police say Wake claimed it was self-defense and he was the better man and was able to dodge his girlfriend and that was why he didn't have any marks.
