A wanted Cheyenne man is behind bars following a traffic stop in southeast Cheyenne.

According to a booking sheet, 32-year-old Marcus Devante Mayberry was taken into custody at 9:45 p.m. on Friday, May 10, after police stopped the SUV he was riding in at North College Drive and East 12th Street.

Police say the tag came back expired as of Dec. 31, 2023, but the plate had a current December 2024 green sticker, and when they stopped the SUV, the driver stated she purchased new stickers that morning.

Longtime Fugitive Arrested

Police say Mayberry had an active warrant for probation violation signed by Laramie County District Court Judge Steven Sharpe on Sept. 4, 2019.

Mayberry's original charge was for strangulation of a household member, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Mayberry was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center without issue and booked on his warrant.
