Cheyenne Man Accused of Threatening to Kill Person With Shotgun
A 29-year-old Cheyenne man is facing a felony charge after reportedly pointing a shotgun at a person and threatening to kill them.
Physical Disturbance With Gun Leads to Felony Arrest
According to a booking sheet, police were dispatched to a physical disturbance with a gun at 1:26 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28.
Police say the reporting party told dispatch that a male suspect, later identified as Trevor Daniel Cabrera, pointed a shotgun at others.
Upon arrival, officers were able to obtain a description of Cabrera that matched what he was wearing from the victim, who also advised Cabrera was the only person inside the residence.
Cabrera Shot With Less Lethal Round, Tased
Officers ordered Cabrera out of the house, but they say once he exited, he wouldn't comply with their commands to surrender and tried to run back into the house, prompting them to deploy a less lethal 40mm round at him.
Officers also reportedly used a taser to gain control of Cabrera.
Police say while on the scene, they were told that Cabrera shoved the victim to the ground, pointed a dark-colored shotgun at them, and said something along the lines of, "I swear to God I will (expletive) kill you."
Cabrera was taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center for evaluation and then booked into the Laramie County Detention Center without incident.
Cabrera Charged With Aggravated Assault, Interference
Cabrera was subsequently charged with aggravated assault and battery - threatens to use a drawn deadly weapon, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
He was also charged with interference with a peace officer - no injury, a misdemeanor.
Bond Set at $5K Cash
Cabrera made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Monday, Dec. 2, during which his bond was set at $5,000 cash and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 2:30 p.m.
Please remember that all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
