Cheyenne Man Caught With Stolen Sweatpants, Charged With Burglary
A 30-year-old Cheyenne man is facing a felony charge after allegedly stealing a pair of sweatpants from a car.
According to a booking sheet, police were dispatched to a vehicle burglary at 2201 E. 11th St. shortly before 4 a.m. on Monday, May 6, and contacted J Miles who had been found inside a Honda passenger car parked in front of the home.
Miles reportedly told police that he believed the car belonged to a friend, and said he had gotten inside to stay warm, but police say Miles' friend owns a lifted GMC pickup.
Police say Miles also had a pair of sweatpants from within the car.
Miles was arrested and charged with burglary, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison, up to a $10,000 fine, or both.
Miles made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Tuesday morning, during which his bond was set at $1,000 cash or surety and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for May 15 at 2:30 p.m.
He was also served with a warrant signed by Judge Thomas Lee for violating his probation in a 2023 DUI case.
