A 44-year-old Cheyenne man is facing a felony charge after he was reportedly caught on camera burglarizing his neighbor's apartment.

According to a booking sheet, police were called to an apartment in the 2500 block of Windwood Drive at 1:46 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29 in reference to a burglary.

Jewelry Among Items Stolen

Police arrived and contacted the victim, who reportedly told them that a male entered her apartment without permission and stole some jewelry and other miscellaneous items.

Caught on Camera

Police say the victim showed them closed-circuit television footage from inside her apartment that clearly showed a male, later identified as Jason Anthony Martinez, inside her apartment stealing various items.

Police say the victim told them that Martinez lived across the hallway.

Police say when they knocked on Martinez's door, his mother answered. Police say Martinez then came to the door and they ordered him out of his apartment.

Martinez Arrested and Charged With Burglary

Martinez was arrested and taken to the Laramie County Detention Center without incident.

He was subsequently charged with burglary, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison, up to a $10,000 fine, or both.

Bond Set at $10K Cash

Martinez made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Friday, Jan. 31, during which his bond was set at $10,000 cash and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for Friday, Feb. 7 at 9:45 a.m.
