A 37-year-old Cheyenne man is facing a felony charge after allegedly strangling his girlfriend.

According to a booking sheet, Darrell Leonardo Alexander was arrested on a warrant at 1:15 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 21, after a Laramie County Sheriff's deputy conducting surveillance on him saw him get into an SUV and leave the location and stopped him.

Warrant for Strangulation, Domestic Battery

The deputy says Alexander had a warrant for strangulation of a household member - applying pressure on the throat or neck, a felony punishable by up to up to 10 years in prison, and misdemeanor domestic battery.

He says Laramie County Circuit Court Judge Antoniette Williams signed the warrant on Jan. 6.

The deputy says on or about Jan. 5, Alexander placed his hands on the neck of a female victim that he was in a dating relationship with.

Bond Set at $7K Cash

Alexander was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center without incident and appeared in Circuit Court on Wednesday morning, Jan. 22, during which Williams set his bond at $7,000 cash and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 3:30 p.m.
