Cheyenne Woman Arrested After Search Reveals Stolen Items, Meth
A 43-year-old Cheyenne woman is facing felony charges after allegedly burglarizing an apartment in south Cheyenne.
Police say they were called to Benjamin Cisneros' apartment in the 500 block of Desmet Drive shortly before 11 a.m. on May 18 for a reported burglary.
Cisneros reportedly told police that his apartment had been broken into sometime between May 16 and May 17 and that more than $10,000 worth of his property had been stolen.
Police began investigating and identified Jamie Denise Martinez as one of two people who had burglarized Cisneros' apartment.
On May 24, detectives executed a search warrant at Martinez's home in the 1400 block of East Fox Farm Road.
They discovered several items listed as being stolen from Cisneros and a misdemeanor amount of methamphetamine.
When questioned about the stolen items and methamphetamine, police say Martinez -- who prior to the search stated she lived with her boyfriend and her 7-year-old daughter -- indicated she no longer wanted to speak to law enforcement.
Martinez was subsequently arrested and booked into the Laramie County Detention Center on burglary, misdemeanor possession of methamphetamine, and child endangerment charges.
Martinez made her initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court Thursday afternoon, during which she was informed of the charges against her.
Her bond was set at $3,000 cash and her preliminary hearing was scheduled for next Friday, June 2, at 9 a.m.
