Twenty-one block parties will be held in Cheyenne Tuesday as the community celebrates Neighborhood Night Out.

Now in it's tenth year, the event is designed to bring neighbors, businesses and police together to recognize and prevent crime in the community.

"Really what this is all about is strengthening those community ties," said police spokesman Officer Kevin Malatesta.

"It's a great way to get to know your neighbors and engage with the officers in a non-working type of way," he added.

Malatesta says those who don't have a party going on in their neighborhood are welcome to attend the police department's party at the Depot Plaza.

"We'll have food and drinks down there and a DJ who's a police officer," he said.
