Cheyenne Teen Apprehended by K9 After Allegedly Stealing Man’s Beer
An 18-year-old Cheyenne man is behind bars after police say he broke into a man's garage and stole three packs of beer.
Officer Kevin Malatesta says police were called to a burglary in progress in the 2600 block of Plainview Road shortly after midnight this (Wednesday) morning.
"A homeowner had noticed somebody breaking into his garage and taking items," said Malatesta.
"When the homeowner went to confront this person, the person began punching and fighting the homeowner," Malatesta added. "The homeowner tried to detain him, but the person ran away."
The suspect, later identified as Troy Zuniga, was found hiding several blocks away, but ran when officers approached him.
"K9 Pavel was able to track and locate Zuniga and when Pavel began barking at Zuniga, Zuniga became compliant and was apprehended," said Malatesta. "Zuniga was arrested for aggravated burglary and for interference."
Malatesta says the homeowner received minor injuries in the altercation, but police were able to recover his beer.
