As part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, Cheyenne police will be at the Walmart at 2032 Dell Range Boulevard from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, collecting old and unused prescriptions.

The event aims to provide a safe, convenient and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the public about the potential for abuse of medications.

"Cleaning these prescription drugs out of your medicine cabinet keeps children safe as well as out of the hands of those who may abuse them," said Officer Kevin Malatesta.

The Laramie County Sheriff's Office will also be hosting a take-back event on Saturday, Oct. 26.  Deputies will be at the Safeway at 700 S. Greeley Highway and Laramie County Fire District #2 at 5800 N. College Drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
