Cheyenne Police Sgt. Honored for Helping Solve Pharmacy Robbery
Sgt. Matt Colson of the Cheyenne Police Department was recently recognized by U.S. Attorney Mark Klaassen for his efforts in working with the FBI to solve the Medicap Pharmacy robbery.
On Oct. 6, 2016, three New Mexico men kidnapped a woman at gunpoint in Wheatland and dropped her at a remote location west of town before driving her SUV and their own car to the Medicap Pharmacy in Cheyenne.
There, they fired shots and demanded painkillers, including OxyContin and Oxycodone.
After exchanging gunfire with pharmacist Jackson Quick, the three fled in the SUV, abandoned it shortly thereafter and left Wyoming in their own car.
The three were arrested on Dec. 3, 2016 in Raton, New Mexico after robbing another pharmacy at gunpoint and leading police on a high-speed chase.
Eventually, both the Wyoming and New Mexico cases were consolidated and the men took plea deals. Two were sentenced to 35 years and the other to 28 years in prison.
