Cheyenne Police Say ‘No Credible Threat’ at McCormick Junior High
Cheyenne police have determined that there was "no credible threat" made at McCormick Junior High School Thursday.
"A student made a comment in class that other students overheard and took out of context and basically it spun up the rumor mill," said Officer Kevin Malatesta. "No threat was ever even made."
Even though Thursday's incident was deemed not credible, Malatesta says it's important students report suspicious activity so it can be thoroughly investigated.
"We encourage them to go to their principals, counselors (or) teachers," said Malatesta. "They can (also) talk to our school resource officers (or) Safe2Tell."
"But when they share misinformation and rumors, that just simply spreads fear and makes the situation worse," he added.
