UPDATE: Laramie County School District#1 spokeswoman Mary Quast says lockdowns have now been lifted at Cheyenne East and South high schools and Carey and Johnson junior high schools.

She issued the following statements which were issued to families:

9:33 a.m. South 

Good morning, South High community. Following an extensive sweep of our building, law enforcement released the building, and our Lockdown was lifted at 9:33 a.m. During this time, students and staff remain safe.  

 

9:33 a.m., Johnson 

Good morning, Johnson Community. At the recommendation of law enforcement, our Secure protocol was lifted at 9:33 a.m. Throughout this time, teaching and learning continued and students and staff remained safe.  

 

9:35 a.m. 

Good morning, East High community. Following an extensive sweep of our building, law enforcement released the building, and our Lockdown was lifted at 9:35 a.m. During this time, students and staff remain safe.  

UPDATE: LCSD#1 spokeswoman Mary Quast says the secure protocol was lifted at Carey Junior High School at 9:05 a.m.

She issued the following statement in regard to East High School:

Good morning, East High community. Although we are still in Lockdown, we wanted to let you know that law enforcement and staff are in the process of releasing all rooms. Students and staff remain safe. We should be returning to normal operations soon and will let you know as soon as that occurs. We will send an update when it becomes available

UPDATE: Police say a similar threat was made at South High School. Officers are working to clear the building. Police say so far there is no evidence of a credible threat,

At Laramie County School District 1 the safety and security of our students and staff is our top priority. Today at 8:33 a.m. we placed the school in Secure protocol due to law enforcement activity in the area. We will release more information as it becomes available.

Cheyenne Police have responded to s school shooting threat at Cheyenne East High School.

That's according to a post on the agency's Facebook page:

At approximately 8:05 this morning the Cheyenne Police Department received a report of a school shooting threat at Cheyenne East High School. The report came in through a third-party text line. Officers from several different agencies are on the scene and working to clear the school to ensure the safety of the students. At this time there is no evidence of a credible threat.
