Cheyenne Police Department spokesman Officer Dan Long says that aside from a lot of calls about illegal fireworks, there was nothing special about the just-concluded July 4th weekend.

Long says that while the hard numbers for the period haven't been compiled yet, there were no major incidents. He says police invariably get a lot of calls about illegal fireworks in the city around Independence Day, and that was true again this year.

Long also says the Cheyenne Police DUI Van was activated as police hit the streets looking for drunk drivers. He says he hasn't yet seen any numbers on DUI arrests in the city, but adds "I'm sure there were" arrests made for drunk driving.

But he says the good news is that where was nothing exceptional reported in the way of major crimes beyond what can be expected around the biggest holiday of the summer in Cheyenne.
