A 24-year-old transient who led Cheyenne Police on a high speed car chase and foot pursuit is facing a variety of traffic charges, according to police spokesman Officer Dan Long.

He says police tried to make a routine traffic stop around 12:30 a.m. Friday at 18th and Warren. Long says the vehicle refused to stop, and a high speed chase ensued.

Long says police used spikes to puncture the vehicle's tires, leading the man to flee his car in the 2000 block of Westland Road. The suspect then left his car on foot, with police in pursuit. The police K9 Pavel eventually found the suspect, leading to his arrest.

Long identifies the suspect as 24-year-old Tanner Kupec, a transient. Kupec is facing a variety of charges, including fleeing and eluding, interference with a peace officer, stop sign and flashing red light violations, driving the wrong way on a one way street, and making an illegal left turn.
