Cheyenne Man Charged With Strangling Girlfriend With Baby in Tow
A 34-year-old Cheyenne man could face up to six-and-a-half years in prison after allegedly strangling his girlfriend while she was holding their 1-year-old daughter.
According to an affidavit, a deputy was called to Robert A. Trefren's residence on Jan. 18 after his girlfriend waved down a passing motorist and asked him to call 911.
The woman told the deputy that she and Trefren had gotten into an argument and that she was attempting to get into her truck with her daughter when he grabbed her and threw her to the ground.
Trefren reportedly said "you're not taking my daughter" and put his knee on his girlfriend's neck.
The woman said she believed Trefren was going to kill her, but he let her go as soon as he got their daughter out of her arms.
When Trefren's girlfriend got into her truck to leave, Trefren reportedly rammed her truck two times with his.
The woman managed to get to the roadway in her truck where she was able to wave down the passing motorist.
Trefren was arrested and charged with strangulation of a household member-throat or neck, unlawful contact-touch and child endangering.
Trefren's bond was set at $5,000 cash or surety. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 31 in Laramie County Circuit Court.
